About the Company/Opportunity: Public clinical stage biopharma

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly closing processes for R&D contracts, clinical trials, prepaids, investments, debt and other assets and liabilities, including preparing or reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Lead monthly meetings with project managers to obtain and review accrual information for financial close.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various prepaid, R&D and clinical accruals.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and associated journal entries for various accounts.
  • Prepare monthly trial balances and assist with monthly and quarterly variance analyses.
  • Support financial and SOX reviews and audits - gather information and prepare schedules as needed.
  • Perform accounts payable invoice review and backup for accounts payable functions.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, SOX and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with implementations of accounting systems
  • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects, as assigned, to support the Finance department.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related discipline, plus a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Certification in accounting is preferred.
  • Experience working in publicly traded company
  • Biotech not required but preferred (especially if the candidate does not have public accounting)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal control principles for a public corporation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the broader picture and priorities.
  • Must be a dedicated self-starter with a high energy level and able to achieve results.
  • Must have strong communication and leadership skills-the ability to influence and work successfully with colleagues.
