Job Description

Vaco Atlanta is seeking an Accounting Project resource - primarily over Revenue Accounting (ASC 606) who will work closely with our client's Corporate Controller to transform the revenue accounting area to support the Company's business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company's revenue recognition accounting subject matter expert
  • Review contracts to ensure that revenue is recorded in compliance with ASC606
  • Monitor the month-end revenue close
  • Resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Designing and implementing appropriate control procedures dealing with revenue recognition
  • Ensure all contracts and revenue recognition schedules are appropriately created/maintained in the Company's ERP system
  • Support regional operations team with reporting to monitor collections of accounts receivable
  • Assess the need for an allowance for doubtful accounts on a quarterly basis
  • Coordinate the periodic variable consideration assessment with regional operations teams
  • Perform primary review of journal entries and account reconciliations associated with revenue and accounts receivable for the monthly close process
  • Work in coordination with the Controller in driving process improvement initiatives associated with the revenue close and reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Certified public accountant (CPA) is a big plus
  • 7+ years of corporate accounting experience including at least 3 plus years of managerial experience
  • Solid understanding of revenue accounting requirements under ASC 606 (including applicable experience)
  • Motivated self-starter who is detailed, results- and process-oriented
  • Strong communicator that is comfortable participating in a cross functional, cross regional and collaborative team and effectively able to work with all levels of personnel
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards
  • A superior problem solver with analytical skills and ability to work in a highly visible, deadline-oriented position and environment
  • Prior Consulting Experience a plus
