We are currently assisting a reputable, growing company in Richmond, VA with its search for an Assistant Controller.

The Assistant Controller position is a critical role in a fast-paced team environment. This key financial management position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and is responsible for a broad range of accounting information, production, compliance, communication, and management. In addition, this position monitors and manages the companies' cash position and is a valued accounting and financial consultant and resource to the senior leadership team. In performing these responsibilities, this position leads an accounting team.

The company is looking for a motivated team player who has an ability to synthesize complex information and communicate key takeaways and recommended actions for senior management in a simplified, concise manner.


  • Effectively and efficiently manage general ledger accounting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Establish and maintain effective working and advisory relationships with administrative staff, consistent with providing efficient and mutually effective support, communications and training
  • Manage and strengthen internal controls by producing, implementing, and maintaining accounting-related policies and procedures, consistent with GAAP, GAAS and to support safeguarding of assets, accurate/timely financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Perform variety of other duties as requested in an effort to contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization.
Desired Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of corporate/public accounting
  • Prior management experience and strong leadership skills preferred
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to see the bigger picture and understand what the numbers mean
  • Strong system and ERP skills
