Job Description

Vaco is searching for Benefits Specialist candidates for a distribution client of ours in the Roswell area. The Benefits Specialist position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company's benefits plans and programs (Health and Welfare, Retirement and Pensions and other voluntary benefits programs). Provides strong analytical and plan expertise. This position delivers excellent customer service and assists with the design quality benefits plans. The Benefits Specialist requires strong analytical support while continually seeking opportunities for improvement.

Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Health & Welfare, Retirement and Voluntary benefits.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent Benefits related federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, including the ACA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, Medicare, Section 125, workers' compensation, Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Daily coordination of benefits processing; enrollments, COBRA, terminations, re-hires, transfers, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.   • Serve as Tier 2 level contact for employees and vendors, resolving employee inquiries by interpreting benefits policies and procedures.
  • Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefits providers.
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of benefits billings and the preparation of ongoing vendor payments.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Some manual data entry required in the interim. Upgrades pending.
  • Document and maintain Policy Documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all benefits processes.
  • Ability to execute against detailed project plans, e.g., accurate delivery, on-time and within budget, exercise sound judgement, organize and set priorities.
  • Ability to evaluate end-to-processes and propose changes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain employee benefits records, group benefits, initiating new hire records and update employee Benefits and payroll records. Some manual data entry required in the interim. Upgrades pending.
  • Point person for Plan audits; prepare, collect and organize data for audit.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance or related field, and five years or more of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing technology-driven environment.
  • Multi-state/multi-Country Benefits experience a plus.
  • Implementation experience in Health & Welfare and/or Retirement preferred.
  • HR/Benefits certifications preferred.
  • Experience with ADP, Kronos, Peoplesoft, UltiPro preferred.
