A Westside startup is looking to hire a Controller due to the tremendous amount of growth that they are experiencing. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for SEC filing and reporting, month-end close, and building out the accounting infrastructure, processes, and team. To be successful in this role, the Controller must be very technical, demonstrated leadership skills, and be able to be successful in an ever-changing startup like environment. What do you need for this Controller role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 20+ years of accounting experience
  • Must have SEC reporting experience
  • Active CPA strongly preferred
  • Public accounting/audit experience
  • Experience leading a company through an IPO
  • Advanced Excel

What will you do in this Controller role?

  • Quarterly and annual financial reporting including disclosure notes, schedules, 10K. 10Q, and other SEC-related filings
  • Responsible for reports related to earnings, MD&A, risk factors, investor presentations, and pro formas
  • Ensure compliance with the SEC, SOX, and other regulatory boards and committees
  • Act as SME for all accounting issues and be able to work with other internal stakeholders to solve complex accounting matters
  • Conduct technical research on current and new accounting pronouncements and provide guidance to the appropriate treatments as issues arise
  • Evaluate, document, and implement new FASB pronouncements
  • Oversee stock compensation
  • Evaluate, create, and maintain internal controls to maintain SOX compliance
  • Coordinate the external audit
  • Build out the accounting department and add team members as the company continues to grow
  • Manage month-end close, the general ledger, and general financial statements
