This position is with a rapidly growing private property management/real estate company that is located in the Richmond, VA area. It will report to the CFO and manage a small accounting team.

As a Controller, you'll work directly with President and the CFO of in supporting the business' financial analysis, reporting, costing, and planning. This position will prepare operations financial and trend analysis to support decision making and provide recommendations for business performance improvements. In addition to being responsible for the financial and accounting processes and controls, this individual will partner with the President and leadership team to drive the business strategy and achieve financial results.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and cost review
  • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for auditors, Manage preparation and support of all external audits
  • Provide financial analysis and evaluation of investment opportunities and insure investment assumptions are well reasoned and that the investments meet corporate requirements
  • Assist with special projects and analysis as needed working with the COO, CFO, and executive leadership
  • Serve as a member of leadership team and participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution
  • Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA/MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis experience
  • Prior controllership experience including managing teams preferred
  • Strong technical skills and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively partner with operations, department heads and executive leadership
