Controller - Richmond, VA - $85k-$105k + Bonus in Richmond, VA at Vaco

Job Description

Vaco is assisting a growing private company based in Richmond, VA with its search for a Controller. This is open due to an internal promotion and it will report to the CFO, manage a small team, and have exposure to executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close activities for entity including overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Preparing and interpreting key statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flow.
• Review accounting processes and implement process improvements and efficiencies
• Assist with budget preparation, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets.
• Responsible for cost accounting, analyzing and monitoring of production rate standards.
• Work with CFO to ensure proper internal controls are in place
• Assist with treasury and cash management functions
• Review of monthly revenues and costs and research variances
• Research and recommend proper accounting treatment on new/proposed accounting standards.
• Serve as liaison with independent auditors during annual audit, mid-year review, and interim procedures.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis experience
• Strong technical accounting and analysis skills
• Experience working with ERP/General Ledger systems
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and ability to recommend and implement improvements
• Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
