Controller - CPA Required

We have a great career opportunity for a Controller with a private equity backed company in the specialty construction market! The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and effective time management to meet multiple priorities and deadlines. The Controller is responsible for a variety of advanced accounting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles including the review of period-end and month-end close, financial reporting and assisting Operational leaders with technical expertise and advice related to the annual budget planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the CEO to develop financial strategies & growth objectives with oversight reporting to the PE Team, Lenders, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee Accounting, Finance, HR, IT, and administrative functions
  • Complete oversight of the month end and annual close process, including the annual financial statement audit
  • Oversee long-term targeting of revenue and cost objectives. Monitor trends and progress of actuals and forecast against financial measures and KPIs and analyze any unexpected variance
  • Prepare, review, and analyze sales and revenue forecasts, expense budgets, cost standards, and capital and strategic plans
  • Provide peer-leadership to Leadership Team and the company for internal accountability towards strategic goals
  • Build and maintain enterprise and financial systems and methods to track progress against plans and consumption of resources
  • Responsible for the internal reporting of financial reporting (GAAP) and other KPIs
  • Communicate to Bank and Shareholders regarding the company's leverage and reporting covenants
  • Overall responsibility for the Corporate administration and risk management programs
  • Advise CEO of company and departmental performance and all financial matters
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly reports ensuring conformance to budgets and provide financial and operational analysis
  • Provide standardized reporting and analysis of financials and metrics to the Board of Directors
  • Forecast short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.
  • Model costs and pricing for new business to ensure profitability aligns with company expectations and market forces

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of construction related accounting experience is required
  • CPA license is required - will not accept appicants without an active certification
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 7+ years professional accounting experience, public accounting is highly preferred
  • Private Equity/public company exposure desired.
  • Experience supervising finance and accounting professionals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adept at process simplication, standardization, and automation
  • Action, impact and continuous process improvement oriented
