Our client, a construction services company, is looking for a Corporate Controller to lead the company's finance & accounting function from producing financial statements, budgets, forecasts to managing a large finance team. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for managing accounting processes including month-end, quarterly reporting, AP/AR, account reconciliations, coordination of audits, and internal controls. Additionally, the Controller will be involved in strategic planning, finance transformation, software implementations and M&A transactions. Controller will report directly to the President and will be expected to provide leadership to the rest of the accounting group.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing month-end close, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Perform and direct general ledger accounting functions as needed
- Research discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and adhering to established procedures prior to processing
- Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets. This includes all SOX controls and OMG accounting policies and procedures.
- Explore opportunities to reduce expenses
- Recommend, lead and/or assist with new efforts to improve management and financial performance
- Work with President & senior management on financial analysis and CAPEX requests
- Review balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting backup
- Conduct analysis/review of P&L accounts to support the month-end process along with cost analysis and evaluation
- Coordinate with departments and employees performing financial reporting, payables, billing, collections, and payroll duties
- Coordinate requests/documentation related to external and internal audits
- Involvement in process improvement initiatives and establishing best practices
- Performs other functions/assignments as is needed by other department personnel and by division leadership
- Work on ad hoc projects as directed
Qualifications (Education/Experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience; CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred
- Five plus years of experience
- Manufacturing and/or construction background along with multi-unit operations is highly desired
- Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant
