Job Description

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Locally based education system is seeking a Finance Director to oversee the accounting & financial operations of the school. The Finance Director will be responsible for developing, documenting, implementing and maintaining financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure regulatory compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Qualified candidates must have experience in a non-profit organization and be motivated and able to handle a fast-paced environment. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including supporting statements
  • Development of the company's operating and capital budgets on monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure compliance local and national policies.
  • Maintenance of the General Ledger, including monthly reconciliations, closing entries, accruals, and revenue recognition.
  • Preparation of financial models & analysis of profitability
  • Assisting management, committees, and the Board with long range planning.
  • Creation of ad hoc reports, forecasting, and pro forma analysis as requested.
  • Coordinate preparation of Form 990 and subsidiary tax filings in collaboration with the company's accounting firm and Audit Committee.
  • Process payables and receivables on a weekly basis and payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure timely processing of all payroll withholding, including 403(b) contributions, and post entries to the GL. Reconcile monthly statements from benefit providers with payroll reports.
  • Ensure donations and expenses are properly documented by fund and correctly recorded.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience
  • CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of accounting and finance experience, nonprofit experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles in a not-for-profit setting.
