Job Description

Vaco is searching for a Financial Controller for a growing $75 million engineering and consulting firm we are working with in Atlanta. The controller will report to the company President, and, dotted-line, the Chief Financial Officer. Comp on the role is targeted at 120K-$140K base plus bonus (with some flex depending on history) and the company offers growth options, work-life balance, flexibility, good benefits and convenient location.

The controller will report to the company President, and, secondarily, the Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing company financial reports and budgets. They also will manage company projects, the accounting team and project setup..

Job Summary

As a Financial Controller, you will work on a broad range of solutions-based projects. More specifically you will:

  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recoding of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all department
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of monthly financial close, accounts payable, case disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, fixed asset records, cost account and general operations.
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly, or as needed, financial records for Senior Management
  • Assure financial plans are consistent with goals for budgeting and forecasting
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company initiatives or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, etc. when necessary
  • Manage commercial banking relationships to facility an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms
  • Assures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and for qualifying programs.
  • Management of month/year end closing process
  • Work closely with executive team in the development and economic evaluation of various fringe benefit programs for staff and program components
  • Interface with corporate holding company as well as outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies and collection agencies
  • Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Finance to all departments creating a well-respected and sought after department goal.
  • Takes ownership and contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required
  • Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller required
  • Certified Public Accountant or Masters Degree a plus
  • 8+ years Accounting Department management a plus
  • Experience using a complex ERP system (not looking for small company, QuickBooks only experience for this role)
