Our client, a growing & exciting biotechnology company, is looking for a strong Financial Controller to join their team. The Financial Controller is responsible for all accounting related activity.

This role will suppport local accounting function by performing controller related functions and financial analysis, keep updated and accurate financial records, work closely with upper management to ensure timely review financial records and take pro-active steps accordingly. They will also be responsible to ensure the Company complies with all internal and external financial regulations.

Essential Functions

  • General Ledger preparation, including complete month end close in SAP for the companies.
  • Input and reconciliation of month end reporting package for two local entities
  • Supervise accounts payable function by providing guidance and development support
  • Processes monthly payment distributions
  • Oversees local treasury and insurance functions
  • Perform revenue recognition for equipment sales and service contract revenue along with analysis of related accounts.
  • Assist with financial audit preparation.
  • Assist in evaluation and cost management of Fixed Assets in accordance with company policies.
  • Preparation, filing and reconciliation of monthly sales tax returns for multiple states using Avatax, and maintain Avatax/SAP for compliance. Reconcile activity to general ledger
  • Process bi-weekly payroll entries for employees in multi-state jurisdictions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for monthly preparation of sales team commissions and provide documentation to payroll for processing.
  • Perform Account Analysis on key accounts.
  • Oversee Internal Controls and audit compliance to maintain company compliance
  • Prepare monthly schedules of accruals for various G/L accounts.
  • Process funding of employee's 401K, annual company contribution and assists in 401K audit as required.
  • Prepare required government and employee benefit reports, records and legal payroll filings. Coordinate with payroll provider all applicable payroll laws and regulations, including 401K and payroll tax issues.
  • Handle essential tasks as assigned, and respond to change productively. Ability to work extra hours when needed to complete tasks.

  • BA degree in finance/ accounting
  • Minimum 8 years experience in accounting and finance related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Practical knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • CPA or other certification or advanced education a plus
  • Experience in payables and receivables management.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a business partner and cross functional leader
