Job Description:

Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the financial operations & accounting team preferably in Houston, TX in support of the Government Solutions United States (GSUS) organization. The position reports to the Government Solutions United States (GSUS) Controller and is responsible for providing overall accounting support, with primary focus on components that impact accurate balance sheet accounting and reporting, and effective SOX compliance. The ideal candidate is one who has relevant work experience with application of US GAAP and Federal Government contracting, takes ownership, enjoys the "doer" role, and succeeds working in a globally matrixed organization.


Job Responsibilities:

  • As the custodian of the GSUS Intermediate Home Office (IHO) GL, be responsible for maintenance of accurate books and records in accordance with the US GAAP and company's Accounting policies and practices.

  • Own and develop precise awareness of all elements on GSUS Intermediate Home Office (IHO) balance sheet and incorporate into proper period recognition, impairment assessments, account reconciliations, and support

  • Responsible for leading the periodic financial statement reviews process across the GSUS organization in close coordination with BU Controllers and Corporate Accounting

  • Review period end financial reporting SEC deliverables at the GSUS IHO for completeness and accuracy

  • Ensure proper analysis and documentation of unallowable cost reserves, incurred cost accruals, legal reserves and claims at the GSUS IHO level. Ensure these unique items are discussed with management and aligned with the GSUS Controller.

  • Support the quarterly legal matter assessment and reporting process

  • As the custodian of the GSUS level accounting policies and procedures, maintain and update the same as our operations or system evolve, and provide guidance and support to the user community as needed.

  • As part of the GSUS leadership team, lead and support key process improvement initiatives focused on streamlining and standardizing accounting systems and practices across the GSUS organization

  • Ensure overall compliance with the backlog and remaining performance obligation policy at the GSUS level. Quarterly, coordinate closely with BU Controllers, FP&A and other relevant functions to prepare and present the GSUS backlog analysis to the GSUS leadership

  • Work closely with Government Compliance to ensure the book and records comply with FAR and CAS, and where there are GAAP to FAR/CAS differences, those differences are appropriately supported and tracked

  • Support Accounting Operations and SOX on-boarding of newly acquired GSUS businesses

  • Support Corporate Intercompany and legal entity accounting team as needed


Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or a similar discipline

  • CPA or equivalent is preferred

  • US Government contracting experience is strongly preferred

  • 6+ years of directly related experience (2+ year of managerial experience preferred)

  • Knowledge of Costpoint and Cognos (Oracle FCCS experience preferred)

  • Self-starter/proactive, expected to take initiative to research issues, provide solutions, and always looking to create more efficient and accurate results for the company.

  • Work independently while also leading projects within a global-matrix structure.

  • Embraces change and able to condense detailed information to an executive-level audience

  • Ability to deliver under tight deliverable deadlines

  • Leadership capability and excellent communication, presentation, verbal and written skills

  • Must have the ability to work well with others (both within the team and cross-functionally)

  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel


Preferred Requirement:

  • This will be a Hybrid position and will require the incumbent to come into the office 2 - 3 days a week and may work remote the other remaining days.

  • The ideal candidate would reside within Houston, TX or DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia)
