Vaco is growing and always looking for new talent for our clients. Below is a usual description of the duties, responsibilities, and requirements that our clients look for in a Interim Controller. These controller roles are typically on-site, last 3-4 months or longer if an extension is requested by the client, occasionally have the potential to convert to permanent, and our clients will pay up to $45 per hour

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing GAAP financial statements, which includes data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes including receivables and payables, bank accounts etc.
  • Actively manage and carry out month end close processes to ensure accounting entries and processes are completed timely and accurately
  • Ensure that financial information is recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulations and consistent with established company policy and procedures
  • Provide regular controller-level review and analysis of balance sheets and income statement accounts owned by the Senior/Staff Accountants
  • Manage activities of staff establishing department goals, defining roles and responsibilities, and implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Recommend improvements to process flows, processes, and procedures
  • Act as liaison with other departments and external parties concerning subsidiary accounting information flow of client funds and other assigned areas
  • Participate in accounting projects as necessary

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Accounting; CPA a plus
  • Minimum 7 years related accounting experience (At least 3 in a controller/supervisory role)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative management style
  • Customer service orientation and ability to successfully resolve issues
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel and data analysis
