JOB SUMMARY

Vaco Technology is currently seeking a Kafka / Middleware Systems Engineer for a 6M+ Contract opportunity that is 100% Remote-based work. The Kafka / Middleware Systems Engineer will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. The Kafka / Middleware Systems Engineer will monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all networked software, middleware, and associated operating systems. The Kafka / Middleware Systems Engineer will help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

• Strategy / Planning
  • Collaborate with Application / Network Teams to Ensure Smooth / Reliable Operation of Middleware / Systems to Meet Business Objectives / Processes
  • Work with IT / Digital Leadership Teams / Decision Makers / Stakeholders to Define Business Requirements / Systems Goals - Identify / Resolve Business Systems Issues, etc.
  • Acquisition / Deployment
    • Design / Deploy New Applications / Enhancements to Existing Applications / Software / OS, etc.
    • Perform Cost-Benefit / Return on Investment Analysis for Proposed Systems to Aid Management in Making Implementation Decisions
    • Conduct Research on Software / Systems Products to Justify Recommendations / Support Purchasing Efforts, etc.
    • Interact / Negotiate with Vendors / Outsourcers to Secure System-Related Products / Services
    • Operational Management
      • Develop / Implement Strategies for Improving Effectiveness / Efficiency of Existing Systems
      • Propose / Create System Design Models / Specs / Diagrams / Charts to Provide Direction to System Programmers / Development Teams
      • Design / Perform Server / Security Audits / Systems Backup Procedures / Recovery Processes in Accordance with the Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Strategies
      • Integrate Servers - Database / Application / WebServices
      • Ensure System Connectivity of Servers / Shared Software / Groupware / Applications
      • Create / Maintain Documentation - Systems Configs / Mapping / Processes / Service Records
      • Ensure Compatibility / Interoperability of In-House Computing Systems
      • Coordinate / Perform In-Depth Tests - End-User Reviews for Modified / New Systems
      • Monitor / Test Systems Performance - Prepare / Deliver System Performance Stats / Reports
      • Provide Orientation / Training to End-Users for Modifications / New Systems, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Middleware Systems Engineer - Apache Kafka (required)
• Middleware Applications (experience with 2-3 core apps) - DataPower / API Connect / IBM MQ / WebLogic, etc.
• Design / Develop / Implement Software Systems / Applications / Products
• Systems Planning / Security Principles / Software Management Best Practices
• Software Protocols / Internet Standards (working knowledge) - HTTP / HTTPS / SSL / TLS / Cipher Suites, etc.
• Network / OS (knowledge) - Linux / RedHat, etc.
• Testing / Flowchart / Data Mapping Tools (competence)
