Payroll Tax and Accounting Manager - 6 month contract - $37/hr.

Location: New York, New York
Length: 6 month contract
Pay: $35 - $37/hr.


  • Responsible for timely and accurate remittance of Federal, State, and Local payroll taxes for US entities doing business in multiple states and localities
  • Preparation, reconciliation, and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual withholding and unemployment tax returns
  • Preparation of monthly and annual reconciliation of W2 wages and withholdings for all entities
  • Reconciliation and review of Forms W-2C and amendment of associated payroll tax returns
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll balance sheet accounts
  • Provide support on Federal and State audits and insurance renewals for all entities
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of the data in the MasterTax tax application
  • Provide analytical assistance to divisional Accounting Departments for matters related to payroll tax and deduction liability accounts
  • Manage jurisdiction updates for all entities
  • Research and respond to payroll tax related inquiries from employees, agencies, and other third parties
  • Participate in testing of all payroll and tax systems upgrades and enhancements including creation and documentation of test scenarios and scripts
  • Special projects as assigned


  • Three to five years' experience with high volume multi-state payroll tax
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Federal, State, and Local payroll tax regulations and filings required, with strong State experience in NY and CA
  • Experience with MasterTax software and PeopleSoft Payroll (v9.0+) highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of current compensation rules
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent analytical and accounting skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proactive with excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
