Job Description

Position Summary

  • The individual for this role will possess the ability to collaborate with all areas of plant management and will provide strong financial leadership, including recommendations to improve site performance to plant management
  • Reporting to the Americas Controller, the plant controller is responsible for the overall financial support, financial reporting, and audit requirements of the plant
  • The individual will be adept at connecting the financials to the operations as well as the operations to the financials
  • The California plant controller is a fantastic opportunity to serve with plant management and the overall accounting/finance team to provide meaningful insight and analysis that will have significant impact on business planning and decision making

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the inventory accounting and reconciliation process
  • Prepare/review all necessary month-end close entries and reporting, including variance analysis and management commentary
  • Prepare/review all balance sheet account reconciliations for the plant
  • Maintain standard costs for inventory, including monthly update of raw material and finished good standards; calculate burden and customer freight standards and update periodically to minimize burden and transportation variances
  • Prepare and monitor plant budget in conjunction with plant manager and other plant supervisors
  • Ensure compliance with local and state governmental reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Understand and appreciate the value of proper internal controls and be ready to champion the effective following of those controls throughout the plant
  • Serve as a resource throughout the plant for all things financial
  • Participate in accounting/financial projects as needed


  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CMA or CPA designation preferred but not required
  • 4-6 years of plant controller experience
  • Standard cost accounting experience
  • Experience with financial closing and reporting as well as budgeting processes
  • Forward-thinking mindset; determined to implement best practices for a growing company
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office and Oracle software
  • Should be a self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with individuals from across the finance organization, external auditors, and plant management
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex and controversial concepts to a broad audience
  • Must possess excellent project management and partnering skills
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships internally with plant/operations team and cross-functionally with other finance leaders
