Pre-Sales Cloud Solution Architect



Position Type: Direct-Hire

Hourly / Salary: BOE! + bonus structure (ranging from $5K-$30K depending on experience level / assigned projects / maintaining 60% of billable hours)

Travel: Ability to travel around the USA, as needed.

Certifications: Certifications are preferred, but some certifications may be required to maintain compliance. All required certifications and/or additional training are paid for by the client.


Vaco Technology is currently seeking a Pre-Sales Cloud Solution Architect for a Direct-Hire opportunity located in Dallas, TX. The Pre-Sales Cloud Solution Architect will architect and build Cloud-Native Systems enabling digital transformation for Fortune 500 / Global 2000 Customers. The Pre-Sales Cloud Solution Architect will be a Client-Facing Role, where communication skills much be impeccable.

  • Guide Enterprise-Level Clients Through Cloud Transformation Journeys - Designing Distributed Solutions Using Cloud-Native Platforms (Cloud Foundry / Docker / Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Work with External Consultants on Migrating Existing Applications to the Cloud-Native Platform
  • Drive Evaluation of Different Platforms / Gather Information on Devices in Cloud-Native Implementations / Run Research on Platform Behavior Under Different Workloads
  • Mentor / Train Developers in Building Cloud-Native Applications Based on Scalable / Portable / Resilient Designs

Migration to Cloud-Native Application Architectures

  • Cloud Foundry / Kubernetes Platforms for Cloud-Native Development
  • Advise Clients on Architectural Aspects of Cloud-Based Applications to Reach High-Levels of Performance / Scalability / Security, etc.
  • Roadmap Development for Migrating Monolithic Application to MicroServices Architecture
  • Review Platform Used by Clients to Suggest Improvements in Automation / CI/CD Practices / Security / Platform Services, etc.
  • Train Client Teams on How to Work with the Cloud-Native Platform - Delivered in the Form of 2-Day Training / Knowledge Transfer, etc.

  • Lead Business Development for Medium-to-Large Opportunities
  • Lead the Identification / Qualification / Closing Medium-to-Large Opportunities
  • Position the Company Offering Against the Competition
  • Provide the Company with Voice of the Account
  • Play a Key Role in Preparing Proposals / Bids for Medium-to-Large Opportunities
  • Manage Internal Reviews / Contribute to Solution Opportunity Approval / Review (SOAR) Process
  • Build / Manage / Maintain Excellent Rapport with Clients
  • Demonstrate Excellent Consultative / Solution Selling Skills


  • Effectively Collaborates with the Project Manager to Manage Regional Medium-to-Large Projects - Architecture of Scopes, including Technical Management of the Clients Staff Assigned to the Implementation Team
  • Make Consistent / On-Going Contributions (at least 2 per year) to the Company Knowledge Systems
  • Make Formal Recommendations to Clients to Improve the Level of Job Satisfaction
  • Contribute in the Development of New Company Services / Modifications to the Methodology
  • Assist in the Development / Deliver of Training / Knowledge Transfer
  • Coach / Mentor Specialist-Level Architects
  • Participate in Defining the Units Processes / Standards / Policies, etc.

  • Cloud Solutions Architect / Developer (9+ years)
  • Cloud-Native Architecture Concepts / High-Availability / Scalability / Resilience / Performance / Security Requirements
  • Direct External Client-Facing Experience (3+ years)
  • Building / Operating Distributed / Concurrent Systems
  • MicroServices - Hands-On Design / Development
  • IaaS Platform (Hands-On w/ 1 or more) - AWS / OpenStack / Azure / Google Compute Engine
  • Domain Patterns / Domain-Driven Design / Component-Based Architecture / Evolutionary Architecture (familiarity)
