Job Summary:


This advanced hands-on position leverages business acumen with strong technical capability, and requires exceptional analytical, conceptual, communication and problem solving skills. The Project Manager is responsible for concentrating on moderately to highly complex projects and organizing solutions for complex business problems and global entity issues. This individual is responsible for owning and overseeing processes, documentation and knowledge within the scope of the team's responsibilities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with users and the Technology team. Analyze and document system / application / report design requirements which can include functional / technical specifications, diagramming business process flows; in order to validate that the system solution meets the business need
  • Take deep analytical dives on data / requirements / impact while being able to distill, summarize and communicate findings at an executive level
  • Lead discussions among Development teams, users and QA to resolve issues and roadblocks in delivery
  • Organize and direct preparation activities within various IT teams to support cross-departmental testing
  • Manage and orchestrate overall testing phase and defect resolution process across teams; including test environment setup for functional testing and performance testing, deployment of builds in environment for defect resolution
  • Review test strategy and test plans to support overall project goals; bring disparate teams together to align test plans and test schedules
  • Manage post go-live stabilization efforts and establish operational procedures
  • Strategize and plan out production cutover and rollback activities with technical team; document tasks to determine and track schedule impacts
  • Ensure that risks and issues are identified, understood early and dealt with in a manner that mitigates surprises, risk to scope, cost, and schedule
  • Develop and maintain standard project documentation - project plans, agendas, action items lists, deliverables and ensure adherence to the company Project Management Standards and Software Development Lifecycle best practices
  • Provide clear and consistent communication of project status both internally to IT and with Executive Management
  • Evaluate business unit and IT decisions to ensure they are in the best interest of customers and company goals; escalate as needed
  • Provide input to executive level presentations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required / Desired Knowledge, Experiences and Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing complex, enterprise projects/programs in IT Application Development
  • Highly developed analytical, conceptual, quantitative and problem-solving skills. Position requires the ability to quickly trouble shoot issues and think outside of the box
  • Required experience in Systems Integration, Systems Engineering, or Technical Implementations
  • Background in Enterprise Application integration, middleware technologies, data migrations and conversions, database technologies, and/or backend interfaces
  • Lead and direct work with matrixed teams
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills, including ability to tailor communication to audience to achieve desired results
  • Ability to accommodate a high level of change and adapt accordingly to get the project delivered on time
  • Leadership qualities, including meeting facilitation, time management, organizational skills and ability to influence others
  • Experience with analyzing complex issues and delivering appropriate solutions
  • Ability to manage work effectively, rapidly apply lessons learned and collaborate across the organization.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is required
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: .net, MS SQL, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, C#, Angular preferred
  • Experience in an insurance office setting preferred
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelors' Degree in business management, IT-related field, or other related area
  • PMP certification preferred
