Project Managers are responsible for the overall direction, management, communication, coordination, and accountability of project-oriented work efforts and success of their projects across the organization. They ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations. They create and adjust project plans, track key milestones, monitor budget, vendors and resources to meet the needs of customers. They are assigned to projects with multiple interdependencies and of varying complexity, scope, risk and impact to the business. Project Managers are also responsible for providing leadership and mentorship to project teams as they execute in either traditional or non-traditional methodologies. They will assist the team in identifying impediments/risks, facilitate efforts to remove barriers, and report to management on these obstacles when necessary. They will also work with project teams and other individuals in the organization to continuously improve all facets of their work.

The Organizational Excellence (OE) Project Manager, under the supervision of the Sr.Director of OE, provides support to the UNOS Organization for a variety of key policy, research, IT, and quality improvement and implementation projects. This position manages assigned enterprise level projects ensuring all work is in scope, on time, and within budget in collaborative partnership for projects related to improving UNOS' ability to perform its role in transplantation.


Implement through successful completion all awarded projects with scope of work, timeline, and budget.
Manage cross-functional teams to drive organizational operations.
Track all project activity. Maintain accurate records and logs while prioritizing multiple projects and delivery timelines. Coordinate the review and completion of project milestones.
• Collaborate with project leaders to ensure Scope of Work alignment and adherence.

• Hold all performers accountable to commitments, norms, and processes and escalate issues to appropriate staff.

• Work closely with key project personnel to support all project communications for timeliness and accuracy

• Help the project team continuously improve through facilitating periodic reviews, reviewing relevant metrics/data, measuring outcomes, and keeping track of improvement action items

• Use previous knowledge and experience of projects to intuitively probe, suggest, and lead the project teams to desired outcomes.

Escalate project barriers to appropriate process owner and/or executive sponsor to ensure project completion.
Periodically review request processes in order to identify and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency.
Assist with the design of an enterprise project management focus and the identification of effective practices; through the facilitation of a Community of Practice forum with project management expertise.

4-year degree in business, marketing, healthcare or related field of study, or equivalent work experience.


Project Management Certification preferred or demonstration of a robust project management project portfolio demonstrating 2 - 3 years project management experience.
2-3 years of experience in project management, grant management, implementations, or other related experience.
Experience in medical-related setting and familiarity of the field of organ transplantation preferred.
Demonstrated client relationship or client service experience.


Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills along with an ability to organize time and prioritize responsibilities.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel - pivot tables, formulas, MS Project or similar technology) preferred.
Demonstrated experience in change management and leading multi-department projects
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and within teams.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
