Vaco is working with a top Birmingham employer that is hiring a SEC Financial Reporting Manager to manage the financial reporting and disclosure preparation for their publicly traded company. This is a rare opportunity for CPAs in Birmingham to join one of the strongest accounting teams in the company. You will have exposure to all levels of division management including executives. It is a technical accounting and special projects driven role. The ideal candidate is someone who is an experienced CPA with public company SEC reporting experience. You must be motivated to lead a team and have strong GAAP knowledge.


  • Preparation of financial reports or portions of financial reports on assigned basis of accounting or audience (GAAP, SAP, management)
  • Responsible for complex transactions, reconciliations, and account maintenance
  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP on technical accounting issues and have an up-to-date knowledge of accounting standard updates
  • Prepare memos
  • Perform management review controls and documentation
  • Coordinate with external auditors on quarterly and annual audits
  • Prepare and facilitate information between locations and to management as required


  • Bachelors' Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 4-5+ years in publicly traded company and/or audit within large public accounting firm
  • Strong writing and verbal skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work on a large team
  • Ability to examine processes, policies, and problems and offer solutions
