Responsibilities:

  • This position will require versatility and flexibility to adapt to a variety of different accounting activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Successful candidate must take ownership of their areas of responsibility and demonstrate exceptional decision-making skills and the application of judgment in applying generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare journals entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies with high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Participate in the month and quarter-end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department.
  • Gather, prepare, test, and maintain adequate documentation to support journal entries for a broad range of accounting areas consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.
  • Apply judgment and correctly interpret GAAP accounting requirements to ensure accounting entries are properly recorded, substantiated, and communicated with external auditors.
  • Collects source information, analyzes data, compiles and prepares accounting transactions, reports findings, and may develop recommendations for course of action.
  • Gathers, compiles, and validates supporting data for operational metric reporting. Provides commentary regarding operational trends.
  • Applies professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Experience at least 2-3 years, preferrable from a larger company environment
  • Experience dealing with very high volume transactions (i.e. in the millions $$)
  • Experience working with large sets of data and extracting meaningful insights and analysis from that data, summarizing and communicating it.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus
  • Money Movement accounting and/or regulatory compliance experience is strongly preferred
