A growing healthcare company in Mission Viejo, CA is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries and financial statement analysis. Main responsibilities include assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and performing research and analysis. This will be a potential temp-to-permanent engagement.

As a Senior Accountant your typical day may involve:

  • Critical hands-on support for month-end accounting close process including the proper posting of cash, sales, cost of goods and general and administrative expenses.
  • Assist and support accounting staff in proper and timely bank and credit card account reconciliations.
  • Support accounts payable staff with our Bill.com vendor payable system.
  • Run monthly cash collection reports to support doctor compensation programs.
  • Assist the Controller in timely completion of tax filings including personal property, sales tax, 1099 forms and other local licenses and permits.
  • Responsible for creating, analyzing, and maintaining all critical monthly balance sheet reconciliations including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, accrued payroll, and deferred rent.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset ledger to properly record assets and related depreciation.
  • Advanced Excel modeling including skills in vlookup, sumif, index, complex pivot tables and more.
  • Assist with month-end financial analysis of income statement and balance sheet trends to support monthly reporting and variance analysis to budget as well as prior year.
  • Play a support role in the expected annual accounting audit by interfacing with auditors and preparing required schedules.
  • Assist with other related ad hoc responsibilities and tasks as assigned by department leadership.
  • Performing research and analysis as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations.
  • Evaluate Electronic Practice Management (EPM) systems and be able to learn multiple systems concurrently in order to support proper GAAP based collection and presentation of transactional information.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of senior level accounting experience
  • Current in GAAP accounting procedures and guidelines
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, excellent time management ability
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance and information analysis.
  • Expertise in SQL (Structured Query Language) is a plus
  • Experience with Bill.com and Sage Intacct software is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems or related technologies, or related financial systems.
