Vaco is helping one of our clients in their search for a new Senior Portfolio Manager!

This client has been in the Birmingham area for over 70 years and, due to their growth trajectory, is looking to add a new Senior Portfolio Manager to their Investment Management Team. This role will be on-site, so all applicants should live in the Birmingham area or be interested in relocating (client may provide relocation assistance). As Senior Portfolio Manager, this position will lead portfolio management activities for the client's investments by interacting with all working groups within their company. The position will have significant client-facing exposure and will be expected to represent our client in a highly professional manner.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science or other related field.
  • MBA, CFA or other advanced degrees/certifications, a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or M&A transaction advisory services
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface effectively within multiple levels of staff and company leadership
  • Critical thinking, analytical and database skills
  • A self-motivator with a strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office - (Outlook, Excel, Word & Power Point)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Passion for sustainability
  • Forestry expertise, a plus, but not required
Job Responsibilities
  • Performing data management, environmental performance data analysis and support with various sustainability reports
  • Create strategy or strategy options for management consideration / approval
  • Consume and translate investor feedback into actionable financial goals and operational plans.
  • Lead projects in partnership with cross functional teams to develop action and implementation plans that maximize financial returns.
  • Communicate RMS management actions and strategy to institutional investors
  • Responsible for periodic and ad hoc reporting to clients
  • Oversee asset valuation for US investments, ensuring results are communicated timely and effectively
  • Lead the management of US investment vehicles to ensure RMS fulfills its obligations to clients.
  • Perform financial modeling (projections, returns, sensitivities, valuations, etc.)
  • Conduct business diligence throughout all stages of engagements and investments
