Software Engineer - Cobol / ASM


We are looking for an enthusiastic Mid - Sr Software Engineer. The ideal candidate would be someone who wouldn't mind doing support work, working with older financial code, and a commitment to collaborative problem solving. We will need this individual to be well-versed in Cobol and ASM.

Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mainframe development using COBOL as primary language

  • Strong working experience in JCL, COBOL, ISPF, Syncsort, COZSFTP , BMC and FileManager Utilities, QMF a plus

  • Design, build, unit test, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable COBOL code

  • Exposure to Java/J2EE, and web service application development

  • Design, build, unit test, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable COBOL code

  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications

  • Provide applications development support for process improvements using programming tools or languages to support the COBOL application environment

Additional Qualifications/Nice to Haves:

  • Data Transformation of data using XML and JSON, fixed file format

  • Ability to identify performance issues and perform the fixes

  • Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills

  • Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio Proficiency using debugging tools

  • High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy

  • Proven leadership abilities including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions.
