Their products are qualified through a proprietary process that includes all of the following: parts reliability, system level fault tolerance and radiation risk mitigation. Position Description:

As a Sr. Avionics Systems Engineer, you will report to a Senior Program Manager and will be responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more engineering program(s) in space and ground avionics. With limited direction, this position exercises considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, procedures, techniques, and solutions to resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Program objectives are normally outlined in terms of broad specifications, objectives, possible results anticipated and critical reference points requiring special attention. This person serves as a consulting resource of engineering knowledge, applies the latest technological advancements to the problem, guides the successful resolution of engineering challenges and may function in a project leadership role. You will be responsible for decisions that could impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time and resources. You must be comfortable documenting findings, communicating results to leadership, making program and technical presentations, and representing the organization as the prime contact on projects. You will provide direction to design and technical staff and may lead a team of experienced professional staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of a program from proposal through completion, including baseline planning, and managing technical execution to ensure quality, business, and financial goals are met.
  • Develops innovative and practical solutions to challenging technical problems in satellite and ground systems.
  • Develops and coordinates program plans or delivery methods which to optimally serve customer.
  • Directs activities of technical staff and will lead a team of experienced professionals.
  • Is the focal point for program and technical communication within the organization and may represent as the point of contact to primes and/or government agencies.
  • Creates reports for engineering meetings, leads program reviews and consults on problems.
  • Provides expert guidance to other staff members working challenging space avionics problems.
  • Addresses complex technical issues requiring novel and highly creative approaches drawing on advanced systems engineering concepts.
  • Anticipates future engineering resources and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal.
  • May assume programmatic, technical, and engineering responsibility of space systems programs or products.
  • May participate with company management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of our company and may result in new products, programs, and business opportunities.
  • Will contribute to the capture of new business opportunities and expansion of existing client base.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Maintain a security clearance.

Requirements:

  • A successful candidate must have a strong technological technical background in multiple disciplines, demonstrable proficiency in electronics systems design, and deep understanding of spacecraft subsystems.
  • Technical skillsets needed includes solid understanding of FPGA/SoC (Field Programmable Gate Arrays / System on Chip) devices, processor based platforms, electronic circuitry, mechanical, software environments, networking, cryptography, cyber security, and the space environments.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team, generate documentation, and participate in formal reviews is also important.

  • Bachelor, Master's or Ph.D. of Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechanical, or Aerospace Systems engineering.
  • 12 - 15 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Cross functional knowledge in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, firmware and software disciplines.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams and successful projects and products.
