As a Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in accurately preparing our client's accounting records and performance. You will be responsible for a variety of general accounting functions as well as providing accounting support for senior staff if needed.

Staff Accountant responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completing month-end activities, including posting journal entries, GL and account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Responsible for daily cash posting, collection and reporting. Reviews, reconciles and prepares weekly A/R aging report. Interface with Customer Service and sales representatives to resolve dispute items.
  • Assist with year-end close, year-end tax and audit packages
  • Processes all payroll related transactions. Approves and transmits master payroll file and receives and distributes paychecks/pay stubs to employees through supervisors or by mail for field based employees.
  • Handles all payroll related activities regarding legal and employee benefits' transactions and reports, including: court orders, garnishments, 401k Retirement Plan and Flexible Spending Account programs.
  • Reconciles and prepares journal entries for payroll, cash, commission accrual, vacation accrual, deferred income and other prepaid and accrual accounts.
  • Prepares daily cash balance report.
  • Participates in worker's compensation and other accounting/payroll-related audits.
  • Handles various agency and insurance compensation inquiries - i.e. EDD, workers' compensation insurance, employment verifications, credit reference requests, etc.
  • Prepares year end reports for the annual 401(K) compliance testing.
  • Assists Controller with gathering data, preparing reports and other special projects as requested.
