Job Description

We are currently seeking an accounting assistant to work directly with the accounting manager for a client located in Glen Allen. This role requires reconciliation knowledge as well as general ledger experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Post all bank transactions in the general ledger and verify the balances are accurate between the bank, the ledger and the banking module.
* Reconcile the database payments to the general ledger. Explanations must be given for any discrepancies.
* Assist in HR duties as required.
* Process daily bank deposit if needed. Generate the month end financial reports out of the member database.
* Reconcile the database posted payments reports to the general ledger.
* Process month-end journal entries and post to the general ledger.
* Accounts receivable
* Unearned revenue
* Invoicing/premiums billed
* Adjust general ledger to database AR reports
* Reclassify unearned revenue to premiums
* Reclassify prepaid expenses, if required
* Reclassify other accounts payable, if required
* Verify the general ledger is balanced to the system database reports.
* Reconcile all balance sheets accounts for each company.
* Assist in generating reports to process payroll.
* Generate Ad Hoc reports as required.
* Assist in any area of accounting that requires help getting a task completed.

Requirements:
* At least 2-3 years of hands-on accounting experience
* Working knowledge of AP and AR
*Associate's or higher degree preferred
