Job Description

Seeking an Accounting Manager for a leading global provider of freight forwarding and logistics services. This will be a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate contribution within a large international organization. The ideal candidate will lead the Corporate Accounting functions for the entire US Division. This position will be the right hand to the Director and will have the unique opportunity to put their thumbprint on a department. Great benefits and 401K matching!

Responsibilities


  • Working closely with Finance Director, help to manage the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Collaborate with AP and AR teams, with station management, to ensure that daily AR, AP, and cash transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Oversee the daily book and bank cash transactions listing prepared by staff, review the weekly cash flow forecasts, assist and coordinate with HQ for cash flow needs as required.
  • Support and guide the monthly financial close process, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled, and that accurate financial statement are issued timely by the 5th working day after month end.
  • Assist with preparation of the monthly financials for each station, by product line, and for the Company as a whole. Assist with commentary for local management, and for HQ.
  • Review all material balance sheet accounts, prepare account analysis, create and review accruals and journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare the monthly bank account reconciliation, prepare journal entries where needed
  • Assist in coaching, training and supervising the AP and AR teams, to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of enhanced procedures and processes to improve workflow and efficiency, and in compliance with corporate HQ.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation
  • Assist with tax compliance - Federal and state income taxes, property taxes, annual state registrations

  • Background


  • BS/BA degree, with concentration/major in accounting required
  • Minimum of 7 years of general accounting experience, 2 of which in a supervisory/management capacity required
  • Experience in multi-location operations required
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • High level of proficiency in Excel required
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (PeopleSoft or similar), required
  • Experience with logistics, air freight, ocean freight, import/export or similar industries highly desirable
  • Detail oriented, hands-on, highly organized, ability to multi-task, and work under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with international operations highly desirable
