We are currently seeking candidates for a Cost Accounting Manager for a publicly traded, manufacturing client of ours located here in Columbus, OH. This is a newly created position due to company growth and offers great exposure to the executive leadership team! As a Cost Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for managing financial reporting, GL reconciliations, JEs and GAAP compliance. You will also be in charge of the Month-End Close and SOX documentation as well as supervising 1-2 staff accountants.

Other responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Manager role include:

  • Assisting with internal and external audit requests
  • Managing physical inventory process
  • Preparing book to physical adjustments
  • Overseeing the inventory accounting process to ensure compliance with company policy and US GAAP
  • Performing monthly inventory excess & obsolescence reserve analysis
  • Evaluation and review of standard costing
  • Validating accuracy of inventory balances and costs in all systems
  • Ensuring SOX compliance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MBA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience and familiarity with cost accounting (manufacturing)
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of GAAP and sound understanding of GL accounting
  • Ability to pro-actively resolve problems and manage multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely manner autonomously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of employees throughout the organization
  • Mid- to advanced PC skills using Outlook, Word, Excel, and large ERP system experience preferred
