Accounting Manager

Our recruiting agency is in search of a self-directed and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee all financial and accounting activities for a public company in the Akron/Canton, Ohio area. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing the GL month end close process, financial analysis, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, account reconciliations & journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a busy work place, and is well-versed in working closely with senior management.

Accounting Manager responsibilities and duties

  • Participate in the development of and support the company's strategic plans
  • Oversee month end close process and reporting to executive management
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company
  • Compile and analyze financial reporting packages
  • Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company's procedures
  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management (CFO, CEO, COO)
  • Highly visible role, direct report and interaction with CFO, COO, CEO
  • Provide leadership and support to fixed assets, accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
  • Manage the integration of new mergers and acquisitions
  • Spearhead the implementation of a new ERP accounting system
  • Keep up-to-date on current HR trends
  • Assist with intercompany accounting
  • Seeking someone who can both lead and roll up their sleeves at ground level where needed and that is a team player

Accounting Manager qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CGMA or CA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education (MBA, MAcc)
  • CPA is required for this role
  • Minimum 7 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role with at least 3 years management experience
  • Ideal candidate will have a blend of both public accounting & corporate accounting industry experience
  • Seeking a Captain to lead and manage a team of 10 individuals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team (CEO, CFO, COO)
