Accounting Manager - Leading Manufacturer - Norfolk - Pay to $75K

Role and Responsibilities:

A leading manufacturer in Suffolk, VA is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets operations at its US headquarters. This is an ideal role for a well-rounded Accounting Leader seeking a warm, friendly environment in an established and successful company.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, including setting and monitoring employee goals, coaching, and employee development.
  • Oversite of invoice processing, vendor maintenance, electronic imaging, and interfaces with procurement systems.
  • Resolve procure to pay process issues by working with upstream departments to refine procedures and address inefficiencies.
  • Head up Fixed Assets including all purchases, dispositions, and depreciation.
  • Oversite of cash applications, resolution of disputed items, resolving overpayments and outstanding credit memos and interfaces with billing systems.
  • Coordinate month‐end management reporting and assist with resolution of customer open balances with Credit, Billing and Sales teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of outstanding cash sales and coordinate with appropriate operational persons on the collection of outstanding balances.
  • Develop, track and report on performance metrics on a regular basis.
  • Engage with accounting team to support the accurate and efficient month‐end close process.
  • Ensure proper internal control guidelines are followed for all department procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with CPA or CPA track preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in accounting operations including AP, AR, and general ledger.
  • Exceptional leadership ability including 2+ years of direct management experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proactive and team centered, with a collaborative focus, and mentoring management style.
  • Computer savvy, with advanced ability with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel, and experience with SAP is a MUST.
  • Strong problem solving ability, complex analytical skills, and focus on process improvement.
