Job Description

Vaco is recruiting for an AP leader for one of our large distribution clients. This is an AP Manager role responsible for Supervising 10-15 employees. This Accounts Payable manager role will include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Monitors records of amounts owed.
  • Oversees the processing and verification of invoices, coding of expenses, preparation of vouchers, and issuance of checks for payment.
  • Ensures prompt payment of invoices, including invoices featuring discounts advantageous to the company.
  • Responsible for month end A/P closing and assists in monthly general ledger closing.
  • Reviews accounts payable register and other related accounting reports for issues.
  • Reviews accounting procedures, recommends and/or implements changes in the accounting system and procedures.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Three or more years related experience, of which two to three years accounts payable work and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts (such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume) and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions (in mathematical or diagram form), and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet, Microsoft Office Suite software (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and etc.), and order processing systems (such as AS400 / Alpha Database software, Logility, Microstrategy, and etc.) or the aptitude to learn.
