Job Description

Multiple entry-level Animal Care Technician positions are available at a biotech in Torrey Pines. This lab facility is a California based biotech company founded in 2004 that conducts first-in-class preclinical research. This position requires the candidate to be highly motivated and work independently in a fast-paced work environment.

Animal Care and Husbandry Responsibilities

Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met.

Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs.

Perform routine animal health observations.

Maintain accurate paper-based and computer records.

Maintain vivarium cleanliness in accordance with applicable SOPs.

Order and maintain accurate supply inventory.

Maintain and organize supply areas.

Monitor temperature and humidity, reporting any issues to supervisor or manager

Maintain vivarium cleanliness in accordance with applicable SOPs

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.

Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Special Considerations

Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or BS.

Additional Information

Standard work week M-F

Must be willing to travel between facilities as needed

Must be willing to provide weekend and holiday float coverage

May include minimal travel for training purposes all expense paid
