SUMMARY:

Supervises assembly department operation, ensures all production schedules are in accordance with work order requirements. Supervises and coordinates employees who assemble fabricated parts, components or units at floor stations. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Ensures conformance to established procedures and product quality levels. Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and supervise repairs as necessary. Reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Works with Production Control Manager to create work schedules.
  • Maintains process flow through department.
  • Ensure assembly of product as per production schedule and open customer orders.
  • Facilitate proper personnel utilization to ensure optimum productivity.
  • Maintain personnel attendance and labor entries / discipline.
  • Oversee quality control and material handling functions as they pertain to the assembly department.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize the work of employees reporting to this position.
  • Developing specific plans, daily, to accomplish the production schedule in a timely fashion.
  • Identify training needs and conduct employee training in equipment operation, work practices and safety procedures.
  • Ensure employees are adhering to process control plans ( Redbooks ).
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Motivates assembly staff, individually and as a group.
  • Develops assembly staff, mentor, and provide training.
  • Understands and supports cross-training opportunities.
  • Improving production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding to the status of orders.
  • Works overtime, including weekends, as required by workload.
  • Responsible for meeting department and company productivity goals.
  • Assists Director of Manufacturing, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and assigned.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:


  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing principles, practices and the ability to implement them.
  • Able to develop and maintain a culture of exemplary customer service and quality.
  • Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent verbal and written communications situations.

  • Education, Training, and Experience:


  • High school diploma.
  • Knowledge of assembly functions, assembly tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and written work instructions.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project is required as well Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Solid experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, material allocating, inventory transactions and production reporting.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
