Our client is a large non-profit that supports shared services and collaborates internationally to create digital content for various institutions and communities.

We are seeking an Automation Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity. This individual will serve as the primary contact for testing activities and responsibilities for the development team. The Automation Engineer analyzes specifications and collaborates with the team to document requirements & acceptance criteria. Ensures traceability between requirements and testing. Independently performs tasks required for automated test development (i.e. reviews acceptance criteria, creates test scenarios, implements data management strategy, and generates required reports). Executes manual and automated test cases, records test results, analyzes test failures, and report issues to the team. Collaborates with team members located across the globe.


  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline.
  • Solid understanding of computer programming, software development, and design.
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience with automation toolsets/frameworks.
  • Scripting and automated testing using Ruby/Cucumber.
  • Demonstrated experience with Continuous Integration.
  • Hands-on with one or more of the following tools: Jenkins, Maven, Git.
  • Developed tests to address the full stack automation (database, API/WS and UI).
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and testing techniques, including functional, non-functional, system integration, install verification, and testing across many phases of a project.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum processes and experience participating in an Agile team.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Nice-to-Have (but not required:

  • Experience with testing API's via SOAP UI or similar tool.
  • Experience with Spock
  • Strong experience with Hadoop ecosystem (i.e. Spark, MapReduce, Solr, HBase, HDFS, Hive).
