Benefits Administrator - Leading Real Estate Co - Take Charge of Benefits Function for Successful, Employee-Focused Co! - Norfolk, VA - Pay to $55K

Role and Responsibilities:

A leading real estate company is seeking a Benefits Administrator to join its Norfolk corporate team.

The Benefits Administrator will lead the overall administration of the company's health and welfare programs. This position will oversee Leaves of Absence administration and policy management for the company. This role will provide consultative services to the Human Resources team, management and employees regarding employee benefit plans/policies, legal requirements and claims issues. The benefits administrator will maintain financial oversight regarding accuracy of carrier billing/client billing/employee contributions, and ensure automated benefit system is properly maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Administration of employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D plans; wellness program; 401k plans, flexible spending plans, and voluntary benefits for 1000+ employees.
  • Analyzes benefit plan coverage and recommends benefit policies and programs designed to attract and retain employees in accordance with social and industry trends.
  • Develops effective employee communications to improve understanding of benefit plans.
  • Ensures full compliance with all state and federal regulations, reporting and filing requirements relating to all benefit plans.
  • Work closely with benefit brokers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate ACA reporting compliance, 5500 filings, IRS and DOL filings and audit responses, and all other benefit related compliance obligations.
  • Ensures timely communications to senior management in advance of any compliance concerns and issues.
  • Coordinates with payroll on appropriate deductions and enrollment procedures and ensures compliance in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Manages the relationships with vendors including benefit brokers and service administrators, relating to quality, service agreements, costs/billings, reporting, audits and controls.
  • Supports the execution of all Leaves of Absences, including employee communications, legal compliance, and management of leave tracking.
  • Ensures policies regarding Leaves of Absence remain current and compliant, and that procedures regarding leaves and benefit continuation are consistently applied and effectively communicated.
  • Manages the open enrollment process for all benefit and 401k programs, including the development of timelines, communication plan utilizing various media, system updates, coordinating with brokers, vendors and reporting.
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate benefits data, records and reports.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business function highly preferred, with minimum education of associate's degree.
  • 4+ years of full-cycle benefits administration experience.
  • Strong experience with ADP Workforce now and advanced ability in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations relating to benefit plans and all applicable laws relating to benefit administration (including COBRA, HIPPA, and ERISA), and be able to effectively work within company policies and state/federal laws.
  • Strong working knowledge of ACA requirements.
  • Demonstrated high level of experience and proficiency using automated systems to administer benefit programs and with an HRIS, and strong working knowledge of current technologies, with ability to identify new solutions and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver presentations to all levels of employees in a clear, compelling and confident manner.
  • Strong experience with ADP Workforce now and advanced ability in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Strong ability to create and interpret reports related to benefit costs, P&L impact, and to generate internal documents for HR and Finance to use for budgeting and employee communications.
  • Energetic, driven personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
  • Strong internal and external customer service focus, with a genuine desire to assist others and act in the strictest confidence.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skill.
