Job Description

Vaco Technology is assisting one of our clients in their search for a full-time BI Architect. The primary function of the position is to provide architectural guidance, technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of data warehousing, data vault, and data mart development and analytical reporting initiatives. The desired candidate will be responsible for the data model design and metadata repository approach for the enterprise information solution. This individual will work closely with the other members of the BI team to analyze data requirements, design logical and physical models, evolve models to meet new and changing business requirements and develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data solution components


  • Responsible for the architecture of the BI data environment, its design, performance, availability, and success
  • Develop and maintain data model, designed to scale as business evolves and grows
  • Maintain formal description of the data and data structures (includes data definitions, data models, data flow diagrams)
  • Develop, document and maintain data model related standards
  • Determine conceptual designs, logical databases, external data interface specifications, data loading plans, data maintenance plans and data security policies
  • Translate business and data requirements into technical terms, propose and recommend technical solutions
  • Participate in data sourcing analysis, data mapping, documenting requirements, setting up recurring data loads and testing
  • Catalog and curate our information solution across the enterprise by developing an enterprise data catalog for use by analysts. Developers, and Business Partner Power Users
  • Review and approve database change requests to safeguard the databases and data integrity
  • Develops a strategy to classify data for its most effective and efficient use to ensure data integrity and consistency
  • Defines master data structures for the organization, participates in efforts to standardize data management for business processes, develops and maintains conceptual / logical / physical data models, and participates in data warehouse design and implementation

  • The Data Architect will create schemas, data types, primary & foreign keys, default values, and maintain metadata for the data models. In addition, the Data Architect will work closely with the Database Administrator to define table spaces, partitions, etc. and to ensure that the physical data model meets performance requirements for the database.


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT, at least 5 years working as an architect in a complex data warehouse or data vault environment required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Oracle environment
  • B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems, or 4 year degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • In-depth understanding and working experience of Data Warehousing/Data modeling methodologies required
  • Conceptual, logical and physical data modeling experience
  • Experience in database design in support of business initiatives requiring reporting and analytics
  • Experience as a development team member on a team using SCRUM Agile Methodology is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience developing a data infrastructure with structured management of master data, metadata, data quality, data governance, data structure, data architecture, and data security.
  • Advanced development capabilities in Oracle BI.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data vault, data mapping tools and data profiling tools. Have proven ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization from the senior leadership team to the individual contributors.
