Business Intelligence Analyst (Direct Hire)

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for the implementation of Business Intelligence solutions, data warehouse design, provide access to easy and high quality information in order to allow the business to make intelligent decisions. Position includes ongoing project-based development work, as well as everyday support of existing reports and applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Designing and developing enterprise wide data analysis and reporting solutions.
  • Reviewing and analyzing data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Communicating analysis results and making recommendations to senior management.
  • Developing data cleansing rules for the company.
  • Accountable for development and ongoing maintenance/enhancements of reports and business intelligence solutions.
  • Collaborates with key business resources on requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, user acceptance, implementation, and documentation of business processes in multiple functional areas.
  • Keeps up-to-date with new platform programming developments to ensure that functionality is implemented in the optimal manner.
  • Production support in multiple functional areas of the system involving expedient and effective communications with users, research/analysis, resolution - providing recommendations to management, customers and peers - and closing help tickets.
  • Responsible for basic configuration of systems modules.
  • Responsible for root cause analysis and providing solutions for production and development issues.
  • Define, document, design, code, test and deploy workflows, reports, integrations, customizations, enhancements and forms primarily using specific tools for the required platform.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, review existing systems, define the solution, and translate that into detailed programming designs.
  • Capable of effectively communicating with internal and external customers possessing various levels of technical knowledge. Ability to determine the underlying issue when presented with sometimes ambiguous and/or contradictory information; demonstrate good listening skills.
  • Ability to quickly solve/determine problems working with technical/non-technical groups in areas that may not be primary area of expertise.
  • Able to create use test scenarios to validate developments.
  • Capable of estimating development effort for timeline purposes.
  • Ensure that tickets are closed according to SLA pre-defined.

Additional Tasks:

  • Develop standard reports and functional dashboards based on business requirements.
  • Maintain business intelligence models to design, develop and generate both standard and ad-hoc reports.
  • Generate reports for internal and external customers for business performance monitoring and business decision making.
  • Work with Business Analysts in developing and executing project plans within assigned schedule and timeline.
  • Ensure the generation and delivery of quality reports to customers in timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage new report generation and report enhancement based on the change requests.
  • Perform data warehouse design and modelling according to established standards.
  • Determine business intelligence and data warehousing solutions to meet business needs.
  • Recommend improvements to provide optimum reporting solutions.
  • Stay updated with business operations and business intelligence processes.
  • Conduct training programs and knowledge transfer sessions to junior developers when needed.
  • Database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Develop and update technical documentation.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or engineering.
  • Work experience with database queries, stored procedure writing, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and data cube technology.
  • Successful candidates need a strong background in all aspects of database technology, with an emphasis on the use of analytical and reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Business Intelligence Analyst. Good knowledge of integration between Bolton systems, SAP ERP system and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and be innovative.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence software implementation (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, SAP BI,QlikView,Tableau).
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Background with SAP partner applications and their integrations to SAP:
  • Experience in full development life cycle - all areas and phases of the SDLC.
  • Prefer experience with SAP Business Objects BI Suite.
  • Prefer experience with Crystal Reports and the SAP Integration Kit.
  • Deep understanding of business process flows in Sales & Distribution, Materials Management and Finance areas, including master data setup, and standard SAP order to cash processes in a distribution environment.
