Job Description

Functions as a technical expert for discovery and definition of API features and functional capabilities within the enterprise in order to create value and impact for digital products leveraged by customers.

Collaborates with consumers (internal and external) and information technology organizations to define functional requirements and functional designs of creative solutions that will support the consumer's strategy and future business goals

Has a general understanding of Common Data Model concept and helps maintain data dictionary

Supports IT Architecture & Development organization in clarifying functional requirements and functional design during development of solution

Understands Requirements/Interviews Product Owner

Asks leading questions to help unravel gaps in requirements

Drives requirements from security and performance aspects

Develops deep understanding of data, business entities and relationship between data elements

Review back-end/vendor/data-provider API documentation and use it to create initial SOAPUI validation of back-end APIs

Understands the big picture and provide recommendations

Provides recommendations for organization and structure of the APIs into enterprise products; coordinate with Product

Demonstrates ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and decide and influence appropriate courses of action

Strong understanding of JSON, XSD, XML data representations

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, API design best practices -object oriented

Solid understanding of API testing tools such as SOAPUI and/or Postman

Experienced in JIRA use, Knowledge of SDLC, Waterfall and Agile methodologies

Experience in mapping data between multiple systems and creating data-maps as required


Graduate degree experience with web technologies, alternatively cloud and/or mobile

Experience working in an API organization within the IT department;

Experience being part of team driving Common Data Model requirements in an organization (able to ask about business entities, resource)

Knowledge of Credit Union/Banking/Financial Industry domain

Knowledge of credit/debit cards and/or home/personal banking business

Experience with Agile, writing features, epics and stories

Strong communication skills, including experience facilitating requirements analysis and functional design working sessions; Strong process management, negotiating, influencing, and problem resolution skills

Excellent analytical skills where problems may be unusual

Experience with business process re-engineering; Demonstrated knowledge of supported discipline

Broad technical experience across technical components including infrastructure, network, applications, data, and information security

Familiarity with the company's existing information architecture, application portfolio, and information management methodology

Familiarity with API management portals
