Job Description

We are looking for someone who can provide immediate CFO-level support in the higher-education space. Some local travel may initially be required, but this role will largely be remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of local accounting, reporting, tax, compliance, and FP&A using the current team.
  • Managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing accurately and efficiently.
  • Presenting a quarterly income statement and balance sheet review to Senior Management.
  • Overseeing financial planning analysis of the annual budget, forecasting, review of financial statements, and complete financial reporting.
  • Monitoring and managing cash flow, approve payments, and disbursements according to the policies.
  • Facilitating compliance with external financial auditors, tax filings, banking, and regulators.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day accounting duties, including the reconciliation and analysis of all accounts.
  • Leading process improvement projects to automate and streamline current accounting and reporting procedures to maximize the contribution to strategic goals.
  • Maintaining general ledger, support analysis, and documentation of variances.
  • Creating and maintaining a series of financial controls and procedures.
  • Collaborating with all department leaders to ensure financial compliance.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance with 7 years of experience in the higher education industry and CPA preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of college applicable finance practices, procedures, and principles, as well as a thorough understanding of state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Proven successful track record in setting priorities, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills.
  • Experience and Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Great Plains, Oracle Hyperion, Concur, or other related software.
  • Bilingual language is a plus, and Mandarin is preferred.
