Job Description

As a member of the tax management staff, the selected candidate will lead and oversee the implementation of tax planning and tax savings strategies. A tax manager at the Gummer Group also reviews, advises, and resolves complicated tax issues as needed to prepare tax returns. As well as, assist in client interpretation and implementation of new tax regulations.

Candidate will work closely with all staff, so teamwork is a must. The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service and problem solving skills as well as the ability to handle changing and growing responsibilities.

Tax management staff must be able to put in necessary hours that tax season requires.


  • CPA
  • At least 8+ years of Public Accounting experience in tax preparation and review
  • Expertise with preparation and review of Trial balances
  • Expertise with preparation and review of Partnerships, C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Individuals, Trusts
  • Expertise with preparation and review of Texas franchise and multi state returns
  • Familiar with Oil/Gas transaction
  • Expertise with Real Estate Accounting and Tax experience
  • Proficient with Tax Software and Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective management skills
  • Ability to grow strong client relationships


  • Manage the preparation, review and the timely filing process of federal and state tax returns - Partnerships, C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Individuals, Trusts
  • Review federal and state tax returns for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare and review tax planning projections and quarterly estimated tax liability calculations
  • Respond to IRS and state notices
  • Delegate projects to staff and see that projects are completed in an efficient manner
  • Communicate directly with clients and maintain client relationships
  • Meet with prospective clients and prepare fee quotes
  • Assist with employee training for new hires and interns
