Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists software engineers and other ops team members in implementing and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Works to automate as much of our cloud infrastructure as possible
  • Works closely with Cloud Architects to identify and research other cloud tools, technologies, and frameworks that will help our teams to move faster in our cloud environments
  • Uses a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Writes scripts / code in order to automate build and runtime environments
  • Builds out infrastructure tools to monitor and automate our environments
  • Works daily in AWS cloud environments for build and runtime deployments
  • Serve as an evangelist of devops practices through the organization

Requirements, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration
  • Real experience with AWS or other cloud environments (VPC, ELB, EC2, S3, EBS, etc)
  • Networking knowledge - firewalls, VPNs, proxies & Load balancers
  • Security knowledge
  • Automation tools experience
  • Scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Monitoring and logging systems familiarity - experience with tools like DataDog, NewRelic, etc.
  • Knowledge / experience with Docker & Kubernetes a plus
  • Experience with other open-source tools like Grafana, Prometheus, etc. a plus
  • Familiar with with Agile software development practices
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) Tools such as Jenkins or GoCD
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • A drive to take initiative and own issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work on small, focused teams to complete critical milestones under pressure with tight deadlines
  • A strong focus on business outcomes

Education, Certifications, and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related software engineering discipline - preferred.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years DevOps experience - desired.
