Job Description

Our client is looking to add a Commercial Lending Director to their team in Memphis, TN. This person will be responsible for the direction, development and support of the Commercial Lending Department. Formulates and executes strategies that will direct the Credit Union's commercial lending objectives. Exceed commercial loan and deposit production and quality standards as established by the Vice President of Lending. Establish a loan pipeline while managing risk to ensure both portfolio profitability and strong asset quality. Maintain and build excellent client relations promoting Credit Union products and services in the field to increase commercial deposit accounts and loan base as well as strengthen client relationships

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Direct the development and execution of the commercial lending strategic plan for growth, profitability and quality.
  • Achieve loan and deposit growth, meet production, portfolio, fee and interest income, and quality goals as set by management.
  • Provide guidance and coach staff members to the next level of responsibility, including but not limited to goal setting, timely feedback and performance reviews.
  • Facilitate sales success of Commercial Loan Originators and Business Banking Officers and develop team members by creating appropriately detailed individual growth plans. Reinforce with coaching and joint skills development. Exhibit appropriate leadership traits.
  • Develop commercial loan and deposit products and delivery methods that will establish the Credit Union as an innovative and efficient lender, sensitive to the needs of borrowers in our markets.
  • Develop and monitor key commercial lending performance measures, and provide reports and summaries to senior management and board of directors on a regular basis.
  • Conduct vendor management processes for prospective and current vendors. Manage clear expectations of service level agreements with third party vendors to ensure the Credit Union is well represented and our members receive excellent service.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, state, federal and policy requirements. Help develop, manage and maintain commercial lending policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the commercial lending function to examiners, auditors, members and the general public.
  • Ensure mission, vision and values of the Credit Union are consistent with the culture and the environment. Communicate credit union goals and direction with all team members to ensure clear understanding of rules, regulations, policies and expectations.
  • Promote business by maintaining good member relationships and referring members to other areas of the Credit Union for new loan and deposit services.
  • Manage the staffing level in the area by hiring appropriate staff and recommending consolidation of tasks/functions for increased efficiency.
  • Represent the Credit Union in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc., and promote the Credit Union's professional image.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business or related field, including specific courses in accounting, finance, and economics
  • Five years banking experience in commercial lending or commercial real estate lending training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
