Job Description

As a Controller, you will be responsible for the overall management of the accounting, financial analysis, internal controls, budgeting and financial reporting for the company's largest business unit. This involves evaluating existing reporting business processes and communicating to management areas of improvement. This position will report directly to the Executive Leadership Team and manage a small accounting staff.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Work with owner and other senior managers to produce accurate and timely reports and feedback for managing the company
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation of all financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry specific reporting standards
  • Review monthly reconciliations of the G/L to sub-ledgers and independent supporting documentation, ensuring timely identification and resolution of differences
  • Maintain properly supported accounting system and records.
  • Implement and monitor effective key financial and operational controls; coordinate and monitor accounting department calendar and checklists to prevent fraud and material misstatement to the financial statements;
  • Manage the monthly close and financial reporting for multiple entities
  • Assist with the annual budget process and the development and implementation of the forecasting process
  • Research and recommend proper accounting treatment on new/proposed accounting standards and on new business transactions including acquisitions
  • Serve as liaison with independent auditors during annual audit, mid-year review, and interim procedures.
  • Manage, mentor and develop an accounting staff

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis experience
  • Must have Public Accounting AND Industry experience
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to take ownership and run with ad-hoc accounting and finance projects
