As a Controller, you will be responsible for the overall management of the accounting, financial analysis, internal controls, budgeting and financial reporting for the company's largest business unit. This involves evaluating existing reporting business processes and communicating to management areas of improvement. This position will report directly to the CFO, work closely with the executive team, and manage a small accounting staff.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation of all financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry specific reporting standards;
  • Prepare timely, clear, and concise reporting packages outlining the monthly, quarterly, and year to date performance for multiple companies

  • Review monthly reconciliations of the G/L to sub-ledgers and independent supporting documentation, ensuring timely identification and resolution of differences

  • Oversee monthly accruals and allocation of balance sheet accounts and departmental expenses according to Company Key Controls.

  • Maintain compliance in all subsidiary compliance areas including accurate preparation and payment of all property tax, sales & use tax, business license, and business insurance requirements and preparing for and passing annual Workers Comp and GL Insurance Audits.
  • Assist the preparation of information for external audit and information needed for annual tax filings.
  • Assist in tracking bank loan draws submission, loan balance schedules, draw projections, inventory, Contingent Liabilities, and Credit Line Reports.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and the development and implementation of the forecasting process
  • Monitor and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of cash flow and P&L performance and review bank accounts and daily activity for potential unusual transactions

  • Assist with the development and implementation of effective internal processes, accounting policies and procedures to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness

  • Maintain properly supported accounting system and records. Implement and monitor effective key financial and operational controls; coordinate and monitor accounting department calendar and checklists to prevent fraud and material misstatement to the financial statements;

  • Manage, develop, train, and support all accounting functions and develop the accounting team including but not limited to general accounting, job costing, budgeting, A/R, and A/P roles;

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis experience
  • Significant management experience and proven leadership abilities
  • Strong technical skills and experience reviewing and implementing internal controls
  • Ability to effectively partner with other department heads and executive leadership
  • Construction industry experience preferred
