We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Tax Manager for a large, reputable company that is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. This is a newly created position that will report to the Director of Tax and manage a small team of tax analysts. This person will also have room for advancement in the near future.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine impact of tax laws to company's business through technical analysis.
  • Responsible for review of the consolidated federal income tax and state income/franchise tax compliance functions and ensuring the accurate and timely filing of all income and franchise tax returns. Responsibilities include assisting with maintaining and managing of the federal and state income tax compliance and tax provision software
  • Provide daily guidance, supervision and, leadership to direct reports for the purpose of achieving superior work product, efficient processes and developing staff.
  • Manage the Company's quarterly income tax expense and effective tax rate calculation process and review the related income tax footnotes for quarterly and annual SEC filings.
  • Responsible for research and analysis related to complex tax issues reflected on the federal and state income tax returns, including tax accounting issues, nexus issues, and unitary and combined filing issues.
  • Monitor Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for the Income Tax Department. As part of this, the position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Income Tax Department policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate the Company's tax positions to senior management and external auditors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of income tax experience in public accounting and/or large corporate tax department
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to management and other non-tax professionals
  • Experience with ASC 740/FAS 109 strongly preferred
  • Proven management experience and leadership skills
