Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant Position

  • The Cost Accountant will ensure high quality financial data is available for optimal decision making (product costs, distribution costs, fixed costs incl. allocations, project costs)
  • Execute month end closing steps completely and correctly
  • Perform necessary reconciliations and analyses to ensure data consistency and reliability, thereby providing a solid base for decision making.
  • The Cost Accountant will check product cost estimates (quantities and unit costs) and adjust activity type prices (unit costs of resources) to have correct standard cost in place for all products
  • Provide a thorough analysis of variances (difference between standard costs and actual costs posted on accounts by GL), initiating corrective action
  • Prepare and execute costing run (putting updated product cost estimates in place for next month's profitability reporting)
  • Execution of standardized financial processes and assessing implications of decisions on selective areas of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow of the respective Business Groups and develop improvement proposals.
  • Project participation on improvement projects.
  • The Cost Accountant will monitor and maintain inventory reports.

Experience Preferred for the Cost Accountant Role:

  • BS in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Strong cost accounting and inventory experience (manufacturing industry experience)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • SAP system experience
