Manager - Cost Accounting

A mid-to-large size organization here in the Metro Detroit area is looking for an exceptional Cost Accounting Manager to join their team. This individual needs to have exceptional analystical skills, systems skills, and a working knowledge of ERP systems. Looking for a highly motivated individual who can bring their resourcefulnees, knowledge, and ability to work in a diverse environment to the table.

Responsibilities:

  • Standard Cost Accounting & Variance Analysis and ensure all reporting reconciles to General Ledger.
  • Dissect transactions on a GL level to determine correctness of transaction posting.
  • Central role in support customer contract bid & negotiations.
  • Ensuring all operational cost reporting is accurate
  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials.
  • Development and review of SOPs for reporting and transaction processing.
  • Central Role to Budgeting Overhead & Labor rates for Standard Cost Budget and for monthly and quarterly reforecasting.
  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles and core to this will be our annual budgeting process.
  • Analyze the viability of new product introduction.
  • An active role in supporting Master Data Management.
  • Communicate Effectively, across, up, and down the organization.
  • Data Mining, Data Visualization, and Data Reporting while adhering to strict data quality and accounting principles.
  • Act as the accounting and analytical backbone for Standard Costing.
  • Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system and create and review the controls needed for analysis and reporting systems.
  • Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses.
  • Report on product cost by SKU.
  • Report on periodic variances and their causes.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and execution of weekly, month, quarterly and annual Executive reporting.

Education/Background Requirements:

  • College degree with concentration in related field required.
  • Five years of cost accounting and finance experience, or five years' experience in industrial engineering and inventory control required.
  • Three years' experience within a standard cost accounting environment, reporting on standard costs and variances to senior management required.
  • CPA, CMA, CGA or similar required.
