Vaco is looking for a hands-on Data/BI Engineer to join an exciting team in the Charlotte area!

Job Description & Responsibilities

The corporate BI team currently consists of a Director of Business Intelligence who oversees a team focused on implementing newly acquired business units, new data sources, and new KPI's in to the BI system. This team consists of a Senior Data Engineer and several external resources from a third-party partner. Additionally, this role will work alongside a Finance Analytics Manager and an FP&A analyst.

The Data Engineer is a newly created position who will be part of the BI team and will be responsible for providing data solutions related to business strategies. The Data Engineer will assist the BI team in developing, maintaining, and enhancing BI solutions in order to help our executive team and business units analyze financial performance and underlying trends to drive strategic and tactical decisions.

The Data Engineer will work with the corporate BI team and subsidiary company executives to resolve data quality issues, validate master data mappings, and ensure overall integration integrity, as well as assist in creating new system functionality, architectural improvements, and performance optimization analytics.

This is a position reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence.

Data Engineer Tasks

  • Work closely with the Director of Business Intelligence and Senior BI Developer to develop, maintain, and enhance BI solutions, including data wrangling, master data management, and report development.
  • Work with subsidiary company executives to resolve data quality issues, validate master data mappings, and ensure overall integration integrity.
  • Interact with external vendor teams to support BI initiative roll-out across multiple phases.
  • Support strategic decisions related to all things data and analytics, long-term BI investments, and the toolsets that will support these new initiatives.
  • Assist in creating new system functionality, architectural improvements, and performance optimization analytics.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands on development with data integration and BI platform development
  • Technical experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • PotsgreSQL expertise a plus
  • Computer Science background a plus
  • Accounting or Finance experience a plus
  • Good knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within a data warehousing and business intelligence environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
